CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Mount St. Joseph relied on a strong pitching performance to earn a 9-1 and 8-0 doubleheader sweep over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in non-conference softball action on Sunday afternoon.
In the opener,
Jessica Thuer finished 2-2 with a double and one run scored to lead the Rose-Hulman offense.Â
Jacky Neuman added a double and one RBI.
The Mount St. Joseph offense featured hoe runs by Alehia Tucker and Sarah Miller. Miller also tossed a complete game in the circle with three strikeouts.
In the nightcap,
MaKenzie Morgan,
Ashley Pinkham and Neuman each had hits for the Fightin' Engineers.
Grace Woodyard led Mount St. Joseph with three hits, and Kamryn McCool recorded a shutout with seven strikeouts for the Lions.
Mount St. Joseph improved to 21-8, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-19. The Fightin' Engineers return to HCAC action at home against Manchester on Wednesday night.
