TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on three first-half goals to top Greenville University 3-0 in women's soccer action on Monday night.
The Fightin' Engineers improved to 2-0 on the season and also recorded their second shutout of the 2021 season in the performance.
The scoring started in the 18th minute, when
Meghan Garry scored her first goal of the season on a pass from
Sarah Shoemaker.
The lead reached 2-0 on the second goal of the season for
Kyra Hicks, who scored in the box off a pass from
Kiley McKee in the 31st minute.
The final goal of the first half occurred when
Megan Foder scored on a deflected ball in the box.Â
Alicia Rodriguez recorded the assist with her strong kick in the 39th minute.
Natalie Dillon recorded her second shutout of the season with three saves to lead the defensive performance. The Fightin' Engineers outshot Greenville 24-7 in the match, with
Lane Lawrence recording a team-high four shots in the balanced attack.
Rose-Hulman improved to 2-0 on the season, while Greenville dropped to 0-2. The scheduled game between Rose-Hulman and St. Mary-of-the-Woods for later this week has been canceled, so the Fightin' Engineers return home for their Grey Matters Awareness Game on Saturday against Illinois College.
