TERRE HAUTE, Indiana -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team returned home earned their third straight home win and ninth win of the season on Wednesday night as they took down Manchester 3-0. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 9-1-2 on the season and 5-0-0 in the HCAC.
Rose-Hulman earned their fifth straight clean sheet which puts them tied for the second longest streak in team history for a single season. They have held their opponents scoreless for 455 minutes in a row which is 12th in school history.
The Fightin' Engineers got the scoring started early in the game as
Owen Trudt has an easy tap-in off of a great pass from
Julius Salinas in the 10th minute of action.
Quickly after, Rose-Hulman struck again in the 23rd minute with a beautiful run of play goal. The Fightin' Engineers made four quick passes before
AJ Yilmaz slotted home the goal with his left foot.
Takezo Kelly and
Owen Trudt would have the assists on the play.
In the second half, the Fightin' Engineers would score on an own goal by Manchester.
Julius Salinas hit a great long ball over the top, and
Caleb Urban attempted to run it down. Urban was a half second late getting to the ball, but the pressure forced the Manchester defender into a bad pass back to the keeper that went into the goal.
Overall, the Fightin' Engineers would outshoot the Spartans 14-3 in the win.Â
Michael Trinh earned his first career clean sheet and made one save in the win.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon as they travel to Bluffton for a 3:30 PM kickoff.
