CRESSON, Pa. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands 2-0 in women's basketball for the first time since the 2015-16 season after earning a 55-40 win at Mount Aloysius College on Sunday afternoon.
The Fightin' Engineers held the host Mounties to just 26% from the field and outrebounded the hosts 38-32. Two major statistical performances keyed the Rose-Hulman victory.
Jamie Baum led Rose-Hulman with 21 points and career-high totals of 14 rebounds and 6 assists.Â
Nola Wilson matched a career-high in scoring with 19 points on 7-10 from the field.Â
Rose Burnham added 9 points and 2 rebounds.
Other key contributors included
Mira Randolph with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 points;
Peyton Miller with 2 points and 6 rebounds; and
CK Gallegos-Rodriguez with 4 rebounds.
Chloe Clemons led Mount Aloysius with 11 points. Rose-Hulman held a 29-23 halftime lead, then held Mount Aloysius to just 10 points in the third quarter and 7 in the fourth to secure the win.
The game's key stretch happened late in the third and early in the fourth quarter. Rose-Hulman held a 37-33 lead with 1:13 left in the third quarter, then held Mount Aloysius without a point in an 8-0 run over the next 3 minutes. Randolph buried a 3-pointer, Burnham hit a layup, and Baum capped the run with a 3-pointer to push the lead to double figures.
Following the completion of the Mountain Valley Invitational, Baum was named to the event's all-tournament team.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-0 and returns to action against Washington University on Saturday Nov. 26 at the Midwest Challenge hosted by DePauw University. The 2-day event also includes DePauw and Illinois Wesleyan and concludes Nov. 27.
