ALBION, Michigan -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team takes down Albion College 71-65 on Satuday afternoon. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 2-3 on the season.
In the first half, the two teams played a tight game in which neither team led by more than two possessions. Rose-Hulman has their biggest lead at 19-14 before Albion went on a 13-2 run to take their biggest lead at 27-21. Albion would hit a buzzer-beating three to take a 34-33 lead going into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Fightin' Engineers were able to pull away late and hold on for a 71-65 victory.
Max Chaplin led the way with 17 points for the Fightin' Engineers. Chaplin also added 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and a pair of steals. Freshman
Kobe Stoudemire also added 14 points on 5-6 shooting and three triples.
Willie Bowman added 13 points, including a key 4-point play with 5:01 remaining that helped boost the late Rose-Hulman advantage.
Miles McGowen added another double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. He also has 3 blocks and a pair of steals.
The Fightin' Engineers shot 44% from three (12-27) in the win compared to just 4-15 (26%) for Albion.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to action on Wednesday, November 30 as they hit the road for a 7 PM CT start at Fontbonne in St. Louis.
