GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The No. 24 ranked DePauw University women's basketball team relied on a strong defensive effort to pick up a 79-41 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the Midwest Challenge on Sunday afternoon.
Ava Hassel led DePauw with 14 points, and Mya Shannon also reached double figures with 10 points for a balanced DePauw scoring attack.
Nola Wilson paced Rose-Hulman with 13 points, including three 3-point shots.
Jamie Baum also reached double figures with 12 points and a team-high 5 rebounds for the Fightin' Engineers.
CK Gallegos-Rodriguez scored 6 points, and
Columba Rodriguez added 4 points for the Engineers.
Rose Burnham and
Mira Randolph contributed 3 points each, and
Tori Scales led Rose-Hulman with 3 assists.
DePauw improved to 3-3 on the season, while Rose-Hulman has a 2-2 record. The Fightin' Engineers return to action for their home opener at Hulbert Arena against nationally ranked Transylvania University on Saturday Dec. 3 at 1 pm.
