Balanced Attack Leads Women's Basketball Past Anderson

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players in double figures to overcome a strong individual performance by Anderson University in a 74-64 women's basketball victory at Hulbert Arena on Wednesday.

Peyton Miller led the balanced Rose-Hulman offense with 13 points.  Ashley Black added 12 points, Jamie Baum scored 11 points, and Rose Burnham scored 10 for the Fightin' Engineers.

Rowan Hein added 8 points, with Jordan Barlow contributing 6 points and 9 rebounds.  Hein had a team-high 4 assists.

The balanced Rose-Hulman offense was contrasted by a standout individual performance from Lexi Dellinger of Anderson.  Dellinger scored 39 points on 11-24 from the field, 7-14 from 3-point range and 10-11 on the free throw line to keep the Ravens within striking distance.

Anderson led 16-9 after the first quarter, but Rose-Hulman outscored the Ravens 42-17 over the middle two quarters to take control of the contest.  The Fightin' Engineers led 51-33 after the third quarter and held on for the win despite a 31-point fourth quarter from Anderson.

Rose-Hulman relied on a 50-32 rebounding advantage, including 14 offensive rebounds in the contest.  The Fightin' Engineers also committed just 7 turnovers to remain in command of the contest.

Rose-Hulman improved to 10-8 on the season and 8-5 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Anderson dropped to 10-13 and 7-9 in league games.  The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Friday night with the regular season finale at Franklin College.  The contest will have an impact on the team's seeding for the 8-team HCAC Tournament that begins on Sunday Feb. 20.
