ANDERSON, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball relied on its to defense to pick up an in-state road win against the Ravens of Anderson University on Tuesday night 65-42. Rose-Hulman improved to 13-9 overall and 9-7 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Anderson, who entered the game No. 2 in the HCAC, fell to 15-9 and 10-7 in league play.
Rose-Hulman held the Ravens to their lowest scoring total and worst shooting percentage of the season - 42 points on 14-for-50 (28%) from the floor.
Anderson kept the game within five points all before Rose-Hulman used a strong 14-3 run during the end of the first half to take a 32-19 lead at the break.
The Fightin' Engineers took the largest lead of the game, a 29-point lead, with just over four minutes to play to cruise to the 23-point victory.
Three Engineers led the offense for the evening:
Terry Hicks,
Trey Wurtz, and
Dillon Duff. Hicks finished with 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting, including knocking down his lone triple. Wurtz scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Duff added 10 points.
Other key contributors include
Willie Bowman with career highs in points (8) and blocks (2);
Bradley Harden with six assists and four steals; and
Vuk Djuric with nine rebounds.
The team hosts Franklin on Friday, February 18 in Hulbert Arena at 7:30 pm. The contest will have an impact on the team's seeding for the 8-team HCAC Tournament that begins on Sunday Feb. 20.
