LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Nationally ranked Transylvania University remained undefeated and ended the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball season with a 72-50 victory in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday night.
Transylvania improved to 23-0 on the season and is ranked No. 2 nationally by the WBCA and No. 4 by D3hoops.com in the latest top 25 polls. Madison Kellione led Transylvania with 28 points on 6-8 from beyond the 3-point arc in the win.
For Rose-Hulman, freshman
Jamie Baum scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Fightin' Engineer offense. Baum finished 8-of-12 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from 3-point range.
Baum also provided 6 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, 2 steals and 2 assists to the Rose-Hulman effort.
Desirae Webster contributed 8 points to the effort, and
Peyton Miller joined
Jordan Barlow with 6 points each.Â
Rowan Hein dished out a team-high 7 assists for Rose-Hulman.
Transylvania relied on 13 made shots from behind the 3-point arc and a 37-28 rebounding advantage as key edges in the contest.
Following the HCAC Tournament Championship Game, which was won by Transylvania, Baum was named to the all-HCAC Tournament Team for her performance on Friday.
