RESULTS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track and field team relied on three first-place finishes to come home a strong second in a tightly contested DePauw Invitational on Saturday.
Wabash won the team scoring with 128.5 points. Rose-Hulman and DePauw tied for second with 124 points. Franklin and Hanover rounded out the top five in the eight-team meet.
Jailen Hobbs led the Fightin' Engineers with two first-place finishes. Hobbs came home first in both the 60 (7.02 seconds) and the 200 (22.58 seconds).
Jacob Eve added a victory in the 400-meter dash (51.37) to round out the Rose-Hulman event winners.
Tim Youndt recorded three runner-up finishes to pace the second-place performances. Youndt was second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.81), long jump (19' 11 3/4") and triple jump (43' 11 1/4").
The 4-x-200 meter relay team of
Jacob Jagger,
Prescott Brackett,
Mason Grawe and Hobbs added a second place in a time of 1:34.21.
Third-place finishers included Jagger in the 60 (7.22); Brackett in the 200 (23.44);
Sebastien Hughes in the long jump (19' 9 3/4"); and
Andrew Walkowski with a career-best shot put mark (43' 7 3/4").
Rose-Hulman returns to action in the next DePauw Invitational on Saturday Feb. 12.
