BATAVIA, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a strong offense to score 29 runs in a 16-5 and 13-2 doubleheader sweep over Capital University on Sunday at Batavia High School.
In the opener, the Fightin' Engineers pounded out 15 hits in a 16-5 victory.
Kade Kline led the offense with a 4-4 performance with three runs and two RBIs. Harrison Finch added a 3-3 effort with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.
Colter Couillard-Rodak and Nathan Burke also had two hits each. Couillard-Rodak had a home run over the right-field fence, one run and one RBI. Burke added a pair of doubles, scored twice and had two RBIs.
Brett Borcherding (1-0) started on the mound and picked up the win for Rose-Hulman. The right-hander went 4.1 innings with six strikeouts, before Paul Durell tossed the final 2.2 scoreless innings while allowing two hits, with one walk and three strikeouts.
