CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology wrapped up the most successful softball spring trip in program history with an 8-2 record after a dramatic doubleheader split on Friday.

Rose-Hulman rallied from deficits of 5-0 and 9-3 to force extra innings in the opening game against Chatham tied at 10-10. Both teams scored once in the eighth inning to tie the score at 11-11. In the ninth,
Phoebe Worstell drove home the eventual game winning run with an RBI single to lead Rose-Hulman to the 12-11 win.Â
Ariel Thomasson recorded the final three outs to pick up the pitching save.

In the nightcap, Cabrini scored early and withstood two multiple scoring positions rallies by Rose-Hulman to capture an 8-0 victory.

Game one featured a 17-hit Rose-Hulman offensive attack.Â
MaKenzie Morgan and
Angela Boulboulle had three hits each. Moregna had a double, one run and one RBI, while Boulboulle had a double, scored twice and had one RBI.

Nicole Lang launched her second home run in Florida among two hits with three RBIs and two runs scored. Thomasson added a single, double and scored three times with two RBIs.

Other Engineers with multiple hits included
Ashley Pinkham with a single and a double, one run and one RBI;
Hailey Hofmann with a sinlge, double, one run and one RBI; and Worstell with two singles, one run and one RBI.

Mackenzie Dunn led Chatham with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Game two featured Thomasson holding a solid Cabrini offense to just two earned runs in five innings of work. Five players had hits for Rose-Hulman, led by doubles from Morgan and Thomasson.

Kaitlyn Martin and Allison Martin had two hits each to lead the Cabrini attack.

Rose-Hulman completes its Florida trip at 8-2 for the best 10-game start to a season in Fightin' Engineer softball history. The team opens its home schedule against Greenville on Saturday March 12.
