N. MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on strong pitching in game one and a historic offensive performance in game two to sweep a baseball doubleheader at Manchester University on Sunday.
Rose-Hulman won the opener 5-2, before scoring the most runs in a Fightin' Engineer game since 2011 with a 22-9 win in the nightcap.
In game two, Rose-Hulman pounded out 16 hits and worked out 14 walks in the 22-9 victory. Manuel Lopez led the offense with three hits, including two doubles, four runs scored and three RBIs.
Colter Couillard-Rodak added two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs to the balanced offense. Andy Krajecki had two hits, including a double, with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Adam Taylor added two hits and scored twice, and Josh Mesenbrink scored three runs and homered for his second round tripper of Sunday's doubleheader.Â
Other key offensive performers included Brett Tuttle with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Nathan Burke with two RBIs.
The Fightin' Engineers threw seven pitchers in the game and combined for six strikeouts in the win.
