CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Mount St. Joseph relied on strong pitching and offense to sweep a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball doubleheader over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday.
In the opener, Kamryn McCool allowed just one hit and Mount St. Joseph scored enough offensively to pick up an 8-0 win.
Phoebe Worstell led the Fightin' Engineer offense with a single.
In the nightcap, Mount St. Joseph had 15 hits to pick up a 12-1 victory.
Katie Palmer had the day's RBI for Rose-Hulman, and Ariel Thomasson added a double. Nicole Lang scored one run, and Worstell once again had a single for the Engineers.
Mount St. Joseph improved to 23-6, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 13-11. The Fightin' Engineers return to action next Saturday at home against Transylvania University.
