Rose-Hulman Baseball Hits Way to 16-9 Victory at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Ben Christiansen finished 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs to lead a 19-hit attack, as the Fightin' Engineer baseball team defeated Wilmington College 16-9 on Sunday afternoon.

Christiansen blasted his first career home run, two singles and scored twice to go along with his career-high five RBI day.

Manuel Lopez and Andy Krajecki also contributed three hits each.  Lopez had a double, two singles and two RBIs with one run scored.  Krajecki added two doubles, a single, scored four runs and had two RBIs.

Brett Tuttle, Kade Kline, Josh Mesenbrink and Harrison Finch added two hits each.  Kline and Finch each scored three runs as part of the effort.

The offense was plenty for reliever Isaac Wanninger to pick up the victory.  Wanninger allowed just one run in 3.1 innings of work to pick up the win.  Michael Yager added two scoreless innings of relief.

Rose-Hulman improved to 19-9 on the season, while Wilmington dropped to 17-17.  The Fightin' Engineers host DePauw University in non-conference action on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

The Engineers scored in eight different innings on the way to victory. Rose-Hulman took the lead for good at 7-6 in the third inning The big hit for the Engineers in the inning was a one-run double off the bat of Lopez.
