TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology high jumper
Kyle Brownell broke a 41-year school record to highlight a historic day for the Fightin' Engineers at the Indiana State University Invitational.
Brownell won the high jump with a mark of 6' 9" to snap the previous school record of 6' 8 1/4" by Brad Zike in 1981. Brownell's mark ranks No. 3 in NCAA Division III this season.
Jacob Eve added a second event victory with a time of 49.09 seconds in the 400-meter dash, an effort that stands No. 14 in NCAA Division III.
Tim Youndt brought home a third event win with a personal best triple jump mark of 45' 3 1/2". The effort ranks No. 18 in NCAA Division III this spring.
Other strong performances included
Jailen Hobbs with a second place in the 100 (10.74) and a 6th in the 200 (21.96). Hobbs recorded the nation's No. 19 mark in the 100 (10.74) and Rose-Hulman's all-time No. 3 time in the 200 (21.96).
Isaiah Lilje rounded out the top-five performances with a fourth place in the javelin (146' 6").
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Indiana Division III Championships next weekend.
