GENEVA, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore
Kyle Brownell brought home All-American honors from the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a 7th place finish in the men's high jump on Friday at SPIRE Institute.
Brownell cleared 6' 8 3/4" on his second attempt to claim 7th place honors and become Rose-Hulman's first track and field All-American since 2018.
Brownell became the first Rose-Hulman men's track and field student-athlete in school history to earn All-American honors in the high jump. Five-time national champion and eight-time All-American
Liz Evans and 2018 graduate Jaclyn Setina previously earned women's high jump All-American honors for the Fightin' Engineers.
The computer science major completes a historic 2022 season with the All-American award. He won the HCAC indoor high jump championship and placed 2nd at the HCAC Outdoor Championships. He also established school records in both the indoor (6' 8 1/4") and outdoor (6' 9") high jump this season to earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors in both events.
Rose-Hulman's track and field tradition of success continues with Brownell's All-American award. The Fightin' Engineers have now earned 106 All-American awards as an athletic department, with 56 earned by the men's and women's track and field programs. Â
