CRAWFORDSVILLE, IN -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on big innings in each game to sweep Wabash College 10-4 and 10-3 in a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Sunday.
The twinbill marked Rose-Hulman's final preparation for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament that begins on Thursday.
In the opener, Rose-Hulman put together seven consecutive hits to score eight runs in the 8th in a 10-4 victory. Â
Brett Tuttle had four hits, including a double, to propel Rose-Hulman's 16-hit offensive attack. Adam Taylor and Peter Rogers had three singles each, with Rogers scoring twice.
Other Engineers with multiple hits included Harrison Finch with a single, double and two RBIs; and Kade Kline with two singles and two runs scored.
Korey Marlow led the pitching effort with a strong 4.2 scoreless innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. Marlow struck out four and allowed just one hit in the effort.
In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman scored five times in the fifth inning to turn an early deficit into a 10-3 win.
Lopez had a double and a triple and one run scored to lead the offense. Nathan Burke added a pair of singles with three runs scored.
Josh Mesenbrink had a pair of hits and two RBIs, and Colton Brown also had a 2-hit game with a pair of RBIs. Tuttle added three RBIs, three walks and scored one run.
Four pitchers combined to hold Wabash to just three runs in the game. Michael Yager picked up the win with two scoreless innings. Jonathan Oliger added two scoreless innings, before Taylor closed the game with a scoreless ninth.
Rose-Hulman completes the regular season with a 25-11 record, while Wabash finished at 20-19. The Fightin' Engineers are the No. 3 seed in the HCAC Baseball Tournament and will face Earlham College in the opening round on Thursday at 3:30 pm at Kokomo, Indiana.
