Rose-Hulman Volleyball Opens Season with Friday Doubleheader Sweep

HOUSTON, Texas -- The 2022 Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball season began with a sweep of two matches on Friday at the St. Thomas (Texas) Invitational on Friday.

In the opener, Williamette University claimed the first two sets 25-21 and 25-16 against the Fightin' Engineers.  Rose-Hulman rallied back to sweep the final two sets 25-19, 26-24, 15-8 to capture the victory.

In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman took control early to earn a 25-17, 25-15, 25-18 win over Neumann.

Against Williamette, Allie Fults led the Rose-Hulman offense with 13 kills.  Sophia Koop added 11 kills, and Megan Korte contributed 10 kills for the Engineers.

Texas native Sophia Harrison recorded team-highs of 24 assists and four service aces.  Jillian Gregg added 14 assists to the effort.

Lily Ebright had a team-high 25 digs.  The duo of Harrison and Gregg contributed double-doubles with 10 digs each.

Against Neumann, Koop led the team with eight kills.  Gregg had 11 assists and 10 digs, while Harrison recorded eight assists and eight digs.

Fults led Rose-Hulman with three service aces and four blocks.  Gregg also had four blocks, and Ebright contributed three service aces to the strong team performance.

Rose-Hulman takes a 2-0 record into Saturday's doubleheader against Texas Lutheran (10 am CT) and Widener (2 pm CT).
