TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team picked up its first win over perennial power DePauw University since 2011 with a 25-16, 23-25, 30-28, 25-20 victory on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.
Megan Korte led Rose-Hulman with a career-high 17 kills, and
Allie Fults also reached double figures with 13 kills.
Sophia Koop recorded a career-high 8 service aces to tie for fifth place in school history on the single-game list. Koop also had 8 kills in the victory.Â
Sophia Harrison and
Jillian Gregg shared team-high honors with 25 assists each. Harrison added 11 digs and 2 service aces, while Gregg also had a pair of service aces.
Defensively,
Lily Ebright recorded a team-high 32 digs and
Allie Fults led the way with 3 blocks.Â
Elizabeth Canon and
Kate Wood added 2 blocks each.
Rose-Hulman hit .379 in the opening set and .279 in the final set to lead the overall team performance. The win also marked Rose-Hulman's 5th consecutive victory this season.
The Fightin' Engineers improved to 8-7 on the season, while DePauw dropped to 7-8. Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday with a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup at Defiance College.
