TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players in double figures and relied on two career-high scoring performances to top Manchester 82-79 in men's basketball action on Wednesday at Hulbert Arena.
Max Chaplin scored a career-high 23 points with 9 field goals and a perfect 3-of-3 performance on the free throw line to lead the balanced attack.Â
Bradley Harden added career-high totals of 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to provide scoring depth.Â
Miles McGowen added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and
Terry Hicks contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds to the offensive performance.
Zach Sawyer paced the Manchester offense with 25 points, and Quentez Coumbus added 23 points for the Manchester offense.
The Fightin' Engineers picked up their 3rd straight win by shootinh 45% from the field and hitting 7 three-point shots along with 15-of-21 free throws.Â
Kobe Stoudemire added 9 points, and
Willie Bowman contributed 5 points to the Rose-Hulman offense.
Manchester had two opportunities to tie the score in the final 14 seconds of regulation, but the Fightin' Engineers defended both three-point shots that could have knotted the score.
With the win, Rose-Hulman improved to 8-6 on the season and stays second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings at 5-2 in league play. Manchester dropped to 6-8 overall and 4-3 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Saturday at Defiance College.
