DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology used a great second half defensive effort to outscore the Yellow Jackets 39-22 and bring home a 77-57 win. The Fightin' Engineers extend their win streak to four games since the calendar flipped to 2023.
With 10:57 to go, Defiance hit a three to cut the lead to 56-51. However, the Fightin' Engineers would proceed to go on a 17-2 run and a 21-4 run to stretch the lead out to 22. Rose-Hulman held the Yellow Jackets to just 1-15 shooting and forced 6 turnovers in the final 10:57 of the game.
Max Chaplin scored a career-high in points in the second straight game with 26 points on 6-10 from beyond the three-point arc.Â
Miles McGowen added 16 points on the inside for the Fightin' Engineers, and
Terry Hicks added a near double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Isaac Farnsworth also reached double figures in rebounds with a career-high 10 while also added 6 points off the bench.
Landen Swanner paced the Defiance offense with 15 points, and Te Jones and Marell Jordan each added double figures with 13 and 12.
With the win, Rose-Hulman improved to 9-6 on the season and stays second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings at 6-2 in league play. Defiance dropped to 5-10 overall and 0-8 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Wednesday night at 7:30 PM at first-place Anderson.Â
