TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players in double figures and hit 46% from 3-point range to earn an 85-66 men's basketball home win over Franklin College on Wednesday night.
Max Chaplin scored a game-high 19 points with five three-pointers to lead the offense.Â
Kobe Stoudemire added four three-point shots in a 12-point performance.
Terry Hicks and
Miles McGowen provided inside balance with double-doubles. Hicks scored 16 points on 6-9 from the field with 10 rebounds. McGowen added 15 points and 12 rebounds on 6-12 from the field.
Isaac Farnsworth contributed eight points and two rebounds, while
Bradley Harden scored five points with a team-high six assists.Â
Simon Blair pitched in with eight rebounds to go with four points, and
Zachary Jackson contributed six points to the Engineer offense.
The 85 points mark the most scored by Rose-Hulman this season under first-year head coach
Nick Sales.
Ryan Bostic led the Franklin offense with 15 points, and Lynn King scored 11 for the Grizzlies.
Rose-Hulman relied on a 9-3 run to push the lead to 37-22 after a three-pointer by Chaplin and four points from McGowen. Â
Franklin closed to within nine points at 61-52 with 9:22 remaining, but an 8-3 run pushed the lead to 69-55 and secured the Rose-Hulman victory. Chaplin hit two free throws before Stoudemire capped the run with another three-pointer.
Rose-Hulman improved to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Franklin dropped to 7-5 and 3-2 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at home on Saturday with a 3:30 pm matchup against Bluffton University.
