TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology started the second half on a 25-8 run to turn a tight matchup into a 74-50 men's basketball victory over Bluffton University on Saturday at Hulbert Arena.
Leading 28-23 at the half, the Fightin' Engineers scored 25 points in the first eight minutes of the second half and held Bluffton to just two field goals in that time span.
Max Chaplin and
Bradley Harden led the Rose-Hulman offense with 14 points each. Chaplin added six rebounds, and Harden contributed five rebounds and four assists.
Kobe Stoudemire pitched in with nine points.Â
Miles McGowen added six points and team-high eight rebounds, and
Zachary Jackson also pitched in with six points and four assists.
Other key contributors included
Willie Bowman,
Isaac Farnsworth and
Terry Hicks with five points each.
Brady Wheeler led the Bluffton offense with 14 points, and Keegan Owen added seven points.Â
Rose-Hulman held Bluffton to just 31% from the field and 3-16 (19%) from 3-point range in the victory. The Fightin' Engineers also outrebounded 44-32 in the contest.
Rose-Hulman improved to 7-6 on the season and 4-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with its second straight victory. Bluffton dropped to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in HCAC play. The Fightin' Engineers host Manchester University on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
