TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team roared past the Manchester Spartans with a 6-0 victory on their home turf on Wednesday night. The Fightin' Engineers improved to 5-2-4 overall and 4-1 in the HCAC with the win.
Rose-Hulman got the scoring started early as
Kiana Martin took advantage of a missed clearance and put the ball in the back of the net in the 4th minute of the game for a 1-0 lead.
The Fightin' Engineers were unable to tack on until
Katie Choi hit
Camille Clark who played a perfect deep ball down the field to
Emma Johns who doubled the Rose-Hulman lead in the 35th minute.
Choi would then follow up her assist with a goal in the 41st minute off assist from Clark and
Lauren Marquardt.
In the second half, Rose-Hulman was able to score their fourth just two minutes into the half as
Alex Adams followed up a saved shot from Marquardt for the goal.
Megan Foder would score the fifth goal for the Fightin' Engineers off a header on a free kick from Clark, and Rose-Hulman would add another on an own goal set up by a shot from
Meagan Hall.
Rose-Hulman would outshoot the Spartans 31-2 in the win.
Lily Doré and
Elizabeth Johnson would combine for another clean sheet with Johnson making both saves for the Fightin' Engineers.
The women's soccer team will return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Transylvania to take on the Pioneers at 1 PM.
