Men's Soccer Bounces Back with 3-0 Victory over Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team got back on track with a 3-0 win over Franklin on Wednesday night. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 9-4-2 on the season and 5-1-1 in the HCAC.

Rose-Hulman broke the seal early in this one as Connor Patton found the back of the net on passes from Chase Kedzior and Kai Moore in the 25th minute of play. The goal from Patton broke a 251 minute scoreless streak that dated back to the win over Defiance on October 14.

In the second half, the Fightin' Engineers would tack on with a goal from Matthew Schwartz in the 59th minute as he took the ball in the middle of the field and dribbled right through the Franklin defense before slotting the shot in the bottom left corner.

Caleb Urban would tack on a third in the 67th minute off a pass from Tyler Eldridge and a touch from Schwartz to put the game away.

John Biederstedt recorded one save in his eighth clean sheet of the season and his sixth clean sheet in HCAC play.

With the win, the Fightin' Engineers clinch a spot in the HCAC tournament. With a win or a draw in one of their next two matches, they will clinch a first-round bye in the HCAC Tournament.

Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Bluffton at 1 PM for Senior Day.
