TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team rolled past the Bluffton Beavers with a 3-0 win thanks to a trio of second half goals. With the win, the Fightin' Engineers win their 10th game of the season for the 11th of the last 12 seasons, not including the covid year in 2020. Rose-Hulman moves to 10-4-2 on the season and 6-1-1 in the HCAC.

The first half was all about possession for both teams as neither team was able to get much going offensively. Rose-Hulman outshot Bluffton 4-1, but the Beavers picked up the only shot on goal of the half.

After a scoreless first half, the Fightin' Engineers were finally able to get on the board as Oliver Fila intercepted a Bluffton pass in the attacking third. The ball bounced directly to none other than Caleb Urban who slipped a pass through to Chase Kedzior who buried the shot in the bottom left corner for the 1-0 lead in the 61st minute of action.

Connor Patton would add a goal on Senior Day in the 71st minute as the senior ripped a one-timer from the top of the 18 and drilled it into the top of the goal to double the Rose-Hulman lead. Kedzior and Peter Borger picked up the assists on Patton's goal.

Another senior Owen Trudt would put the game away in the 74th minute as Elijah Hardersen would hit Kedzior who played a perfect ball across the box to hit the sliding Trudt to extend the lead to 3-0.

John Biederstedt would add his ninth clean sheet of the season as he made both saves in the win.

With the win, the Fightin' Engineers sit one point back of Manchester in the HCAC standings for the top spot. The Fightin' Engineers will host the Hanover Panthers on Wednesday at 7 PM for the regular season finale. With a win or a tie, the Fightin' Engineers will clinch a first-round bye in the HCAC Tournament. With a loss, the Fightin' Engineers will fall to the #3 seed in the tournament and play on Saturday, October 28 in the opening round.

In order to win their fourth consecutive conference championship, the Fightin' Engineers will need a win over Hanover and a draw or loss by Manchester as they take on the Bluffton Beavers.
