TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team came home with a 44-7 victory over Manchester on Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC.
Rose-Hulman came out of the gates slow as three of their drives were stopped in the red zone and held to
Kyle Rehberg field goals of 23, 26, and 26 yards. They would also add a 27-yard touchdown pass from
Miguel Robertson to
Jailen Hobbs and lead 16-7 halfway through the second quarter.
The Fightin' Engineers would tack on three touchdowns in the final six minutes and change of the first half to take a 37-7 lead into the half.
Robertson would connect with
Ben Klein and
Brandon Green for touchdowns, and
Jacob Fields added a 19-yard scoop and score touchdown with just over a minute to go.
In the second half, Rose-Hulman would add one more touchdown as
Jay Smith pushed his way into the endzone for a 6-yard score and a 44-7 win.
Robertson finished with 199 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Smith earned his second consecutive 100 rushing yard game with 111 yards and a score.
Grant Ripperda added 91 yards on the ground, and
Jailen Hobbs led the team with 5 catches, 86 yards, and a touchdown.
On defense,
Riley Lopian led the team with 8 tackles and added a tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery.
Evan Gass added 1.5 tackles for a loss, and
Adam Field,
Jacob Fields, and
Stephon Pugh all hauled in interceptions.
The Fightin' Engineers return to Cook Stadium next weekend as they host the Bluffton Beavers on Saturday, October 14 at 1:30 PM.
