TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers men's basketball team hosted DePauw University in their season opener on Friday night. The team came away with a win over the Tigers with a final score of 73-55. This advances the team to 1-0 to start the season.
Bradley Harden led the team with 20 points on the night shooting 7-11 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc. Harden also led the team in assists with four. Other double figure scorers included
Daniel Savovic (12),
Rocco Richie (11), and
Kobe Stoudemire (10).
Simon Blair led the team on the glass recording seven rebounds.
A made three by Richie with 3:18 left in the first half gave the Engineers their largest lead of the half with the score at 30-15. Rose maintained their lead with the score at 37-22 heading into halftime.
The team continued to control the pace down the stretch building their largest lead of the night after two Harden free throws with a minute remaining and the score at 71-50. A strong showing by their senior Harden was able to seal the win for the Engineers.Â
Rose will travel to face The College of Wooster in the Wooster Invitational on Friday, 11/17 at 8 PM.Â
