WOOSTER, Ohio-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers men's basketball team traveled to face the Wooster Fighting Scots in the first day of the Wooster Invitational on Friday. The Engineers picked up the win in a close contest with a final score of 82-80. This advances the team to 2-0 overall this season.
Rose-Hulman totaled four players reaching double-figures in scoring on the night.
Miles McGowen led the way with 17 points. Other double digit scorers included
Rocco Richie (15),
Cole Pride (13), and
Kobe Stoudemire (11).
Bradley Harden led the team on the boards recording six rebounds.
The Engineers were down 60-55 with 10:02 left in the second half after a strong start by the Fighting Scots. Rose-Hulman put together a 17-4 run to stand ahead 72-64 with just 5:12 remaining in the ball game.
Two clutch free throws by Stoudemire down the stretch put the team ahead by two possessions with the score at 82-77 and only four seconds remaining. This would be enough to secure the victory for the Engineers and advance them to the championship game.
The Engineers will face #8 Hampden-Sydney in the championship game on Saturday, 11/18 at 4:30 PM.
