TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell to DePauw 76-70 in the third-place game of the Midwest Challenge. Illinois Wesleyan would defeat Washington University 87-80 in overtime to win their 7th Midwest Challenge title.
DePauw seemed to dominate early on in the game, and they were able to take a 14-point lead late in the second quarter. The Tigers would take a 40-29 halftime lead into the locker room.
The Tigers took their biggest lead of the game at 59-43 late in the third quarter, but the Fightin' Engineers just would not go away.
Rose-Hulman would answer with an 8-0 run, but DePauw would answer by extending the lead back to 14. The Fightin' Engineers would then go on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to seven once again.
It was just too little too late for Rose-Hulman as they came up with a steal and a bucket with one minute to go to cut the lead to 4 at 71-67, but they were never able to get any closer.
Manuella Shomba led the team with 18 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.Â
Jamie Baum also finished with 18 points and went 3-6 shooting from beyond the three-point line.

CK Gallegos-Rodriguez, and
Ashley Black all finished in double figures as well for the Fightin' Engineers.
Rose-Hulman drops to 1-4 on the season, and they will return to the court on Wednesday, November 29 as they travel to Anderson for their HCAC Opener.
