HANOVER, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's volleyball team took down Hanover in the opening round of the HCAC Tournament for the consecutive year with a 4 set win at Hanover.
The Fightin' Engineers took control early with a 25-22 win in the first set, but Hanover was able to tie it up by winning the second set 25-12.
In the third set, it was a back and forth battle with both teams looking to take control. Hanover would have six set points from 24-23 to 29-28, but they were unable to put away the set. The Fightin' Engineers would rally with three straight points to win the set 31-29 and take control of the match.
Rose-Hulman would win the final set 25-17 to win the match in four sets.
Sophia Koop led the team with 14 kills, and
Allie Fults and
Megan Korte were each in double figures with 12 and 11.
Lily Ebright recorded her season-high and tied her career-high with 38 digs in the win. Her 38 digs are the fourth-most in school history for a 4-set match.
Jillian Gregg added 34 assists, and Fults added 5 blocks.
With the win, the Fightin' Engineers advance to the HCAC Semifinals to take on the #17 Transylvania Pioneers on Saturday at Mount St. Joseph at 5 PM.
