GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team relied on strong offense in game one to split a doubleheader at Greenville University on Saturday.
In the opener, Rose-Hulman had five players record two hits each in a 7-5 victory.Â
Phoebe Worstell led the offensive performance with two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.
Other multiple-hit Rose-Hulman performers included
MaKenzie Morgan with a single, double, two runs scored and one RBI;
Katelyn Sarvis with two singles, one run and one RBI;
Nicole Lang with two singles and one RBI; and
Ashley Pinkham with two singles.
Lexi Fortuna scored two runs and added one single and one RBI.
Baylee Uhrick and Pinkham combined for the pitching highlights in the 7-5 win. Pinkham picked up the win with four innings pitched and three strikeouts. Uhrick started with one strikeout in three innings of work.
In the nightcap, Greenville scored four runs in the first and fifth innings to earn a 9-1 victory.
Lang smashed a double and Morgan added a single for the Rose-Hulman game two offense. Uhrick led the pitching performance with four innings and no earned runs allowed.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-6 on the season, while Greenville has a record of 2-2. The Fightin' Engineers return to action next Saturday at Fontbonne University.
