TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team split their Saturday doubleheader with Transylvania. The Fightin' Engineers dropped game one 11-8 before winning game two 10-6.

Transylvania started off quickly in the first game with four runs in the second inning. However, the Fightin' Engineers were able to chip away from the lead. Mark Serdinak answered with a two-run home run in the second, Colter Couillard-Rodak added an RBI single in the third, and Andy Krajecki's RBI double in the fifth tied the game at four.

In the seventh inning, the Fightin' Engineers would tack on two more runs to take a 6-4 lead on an RBI double by Peter Rogers and a Transylvania error.

However, Transylvania would respond in a major way in the final two innings. The Pioneers would score three runs in the eighth and four more in the ninth to stretch the lead out to 11-6. In the bottom of the ninth, Rose-Hulman would tack on a pair of runs, but they would fall 11-8.

Ian Kline went 6.2 innings and allowed just three earned runs and seven hits en route to the no decision.

Rogers led the offense in the first game with three hits and two runs. Serdinak also had a multi-hit game and three RBIs in the loss.

In the second game, Transy again started off the offense with two runs in the first, but Andy Krajecki would answer with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1.
