ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team picked up their first HCAC win of the season and snapped their 16-game losing streak with a 10-9 win over the Anderson Ravens on Saturday afternoon.
The Fightin' Engineers opened off the game with some hot bats.
Nicole Lang got it started with an RBI single before
Phoebe Worstell doubled home two more runs.
Jadyn Winkler then added an RBI single, and
Hailey Hofmann doubled home the fifth run of the inning for a 5-0 lead.
Rose-Hulman then added two more runs on a two-run single by
MaKenzie Morgan to extend the lead to 7-0 in the third inning.
Anderson rallied with three runs in the third and another in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-4.
The Fightin' Engineers added to their lead in the sixth thanks to a pair of Anderson errors that allowed three more runs to come across the plate.
Anderson was able to score five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but
Phoebe Worstell got out of the jam with a strikeout to seal the victory.
Ashley Pinkham led the team with three hits, and Morgan and Lang each added two. Morgan and Worstell each added two RBIs in the win as well.
Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday at Transylvania for their season finale.
