TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- We are now just under three months away from the opening kickoff of the 2023 Rose-Hulman men's season which means it is time to break down the schedule. The full schedule can be seen
HERE.
The season kicks on September 1st at 7 PM CT as the Fightin' Engineers travel to Illinois for a road match at Greenville. Rose-Hulman comes into the season just 3-8-1 in road matches with Greenville with the last road win coming in 2016.
Other non-conference road matchups will include North Central on September 10 and Hope on September 16.
Rose-Hulman will open their home slate with the first match of a men's and women's doubleheader on Sunday, September 3 at 3 PM against the Washington University Bears. Last year's meeting between these two teams was canceled due to weather.
The Fightin' Engineers will also host four more non-conference matches with Wabash (September 6), DePauw (September 13), Millikin (September 20), and Ohio Northern (September 23).
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play kicks off on September 27 as the Fightin' Engineers will host a mid-week game with the Mount St. Joseph Lions. The Fightin' Engineers will also host Defiance (October 7), Bluffton (October 21) on Senior Day, and Hanover (October 25).
Rose-Hulman will take five road trips in the HCAC this year going to Earlham (September 30), Anderson (October 4), Manchester (October 11), Transylvania (October 14), and Franklin (October 18).
Rose-Hulman plays three teams that made the 2022 NCAA DIII Tournament this season. Greenville fell to Kenyon, an Elite 8 qualifier, 6-1 in the opening round of the tournament. North Central was upset in the second round of the tournament by St. Olaf 2-1 in double overtime after beating Wisconsin-Superior 3-2 in the opening round. Ohio Northern won both of their home games in penalty kicks over Mount Aloysius and North Park before falling to Williams 1-0 in the Sweet 16.
Prior to the start of the season, Rose-Hulman will play three scrimmages. They will hit the road for their first two scrimmages at Indianapolis on August 22 and at Principia on August 26. The Fightin' Engineers will then return home on August 30 at 7 PM for their final scrimmage against Lincoln Trail.
The Fightin' Engineers are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament as they did this past year with an HCAC Championship. They fell to North Park 3-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
We hope to see you all at the Rose-Hulman Soccer Field at 3 PM on September 3 as the Fightin' Engineers open their 2023 home campaign against Washington University in St. Louis.
