TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- We are now just under three months away from the opening tournament of the 2023 Rose-Hulman volleyball season which means it is time to break down the schedule. The full schedule can be seen
HERE.
The season kicks off on September 1st and 2nd with the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational. The Fightin' Engineers will play Wheaton (IL) and the hosts, Wisconsin-Whitewater, on Friday night before playing Edgewood and Lakeland on Saturday morning.
This will be the first of four tournaments for Rose-Hulman this season. The Fightin' Engineers will travel to DePauw for the MIAA / NCAC Challenge on September 8 and 9. Rose-Hulman will take on Trine and Adrian on Friday before battling Kalamazoo on Saturday.
Then, the Fightin' Engineers will wrap up their road tournament with the Augustana Invitational in Rock, Island Illinois on September 15 and 16. They will play Wisconsin-Platteville and Augustana (IL) on Friday night before taking on Wartburg and Grinnell on Saturday.
Rose-Hulman concludes their tournament slate by hosting the Rose-Hulman Invitational. The Fightin' Engineers will host Asbury, Grove City, Baldwin Wallace, and Olivet. Anderson will also play in the invitational, but Rose-Hulman will not play them due to both being in the HCAC.
Other non-conference games for the Fightin' Engineers include a home meeting with Webster on September 19 and road matches at DePauw on September 26 and at Greenville on October 11.
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play kicks off on September 30 as the Fightin' Engineers will visit the HCAC Champions, Transylvania Pioneers, for a 3 PM first-serve. The Pioneers qualified for the Final Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 2022 before falling to New York University.
The HCAC home matches this season will include Defiance on October 14 for National Girls & Women in Sports Day, Anderson on October 18 for the Faculty Appreciate Game, Franklin on October 24 for the Cancer Research Game, Hanover on October 28, and Bluffton on November 4 for Senior Day.
Rose-Hulman plays two teams that made the 2022 NCAA DIII Tournament this season. Wisconsin-Whitewater made the Sweet 16 this past season with wins over Cornell and Gustavus Adolphus before falling to Northwestern-St. Paul. Transylvania made the Elite 8 and plaued in the National Championship weekend in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania thanks to wins over Randolph-Macon, Emory, and Berry. The Pioneers fell to New York University in their Elite 8 matchup.
Rose-Hulman will also play four schools this season for the first time in program history including Edgewood, Lakeland, Wartburg, and Wisconsin-Whitewater.
The Fightin' Engineers are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2018 season, the first season for Head Coach
Rachel Delsi.
We hope to see you all at Hulbert Arena at 7 PM on September 19 as the Fightin' Engineers open their 2023 campaign against Webster.
