ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's volleyball team dropped both of their Friday matches in the Augustana Invitational.Â
The Fightin' Engineers had a pair of tough matches on Friday night at Augustana with a pair of teams who received votes in the AVCA Top-25 poll this week.
Rose-Hulman started off strong in their first match with a 16-11 lead in the first set. However, Wisconsin-Platteville would catch fire to come back and win the first set. They would then proceed to jump out to a big lead in the second set as they were hitting a whopping 0.769 at one point.
In the third set, the Fightin' Engineers came back and battled, but it wouldn't be enough as they fell 25-21, 25-9, 25-22.
Sophia Koop led the team with six kills, and
Jillian Gregg and
Hayden Hamilton each added nine assists.
Allie Fults led the team with 0.176 hitting percentage and 2 blocks.
In the second match, Augustana hit 0.203 for the match and took the match 25-15, 25-18, 25-18. Rose-Hulman battled in the first set thanks to a 0.154 hitting percentage.\
Lily Ebright had an incredible match for Rose-Hulman as she recorded 37 digs (12.33 per set) which ranks 2nd most in school history in a 3-set match.
Megan Korte added 12 kills for the Fightin' Engineers.
Rose-Hulman returns to the court at the Augustana Invitational tomorrow as they play Clarkson at 10 AM CT and Grinnell at 2 PM CT.Â
