TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team took down Mount St. Joseph 6-0 to open the HCAC season. The Fightin' Engineers improved to 5-3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the HCAC.

Rose-Hulman came out in a frenzy early on, firing shot after shot at the Mount St. Joseph keeper. They finally found the back of the net in the 12th minute as Connor Patton buried a pass from Caleb Urban into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Just 1 minute and 2 seconds later, the Fightin' Engineers doubled their lead as freshman Chase Kedzior picked off a pass, took a couple dribbles, and beat the keeper near post with a perfect strike into the upper corner for hjis first career goal. 

The Fightin' Engineers would tack on two more goals before the half as Matthew Schwartz scored in the 36th minute off a double assist from Oliver Fila and Jimmy Hall, and Gabe Kruer found the back of the net off a rebound from a Tyler Eldridge shot as he picked up the assist.

In the second half, Rose-Hulman would tack on two more goals as Jacob Pohl found the back of the net on a rebounded shot from Eldridge once again. Eldridge then finally beat the keeper off an assist from Pohl. The goal and assist for Pohl match his season totals from one year ago.

In goal, John Biederstedt had a quiet night as he made the save on the lone shot for the Mount St. Joseph Lions in the 18th minute. The Fightin' Engineers would outshoot the Lions 36-1 in the win.

Rose-Hulman will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 30 at 3:30 PM as they travel to Earlham College to continue HCAC play.
