RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer had their second six-goal offensive explosion of the week as they cruise past Earlham 6-0. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 6-3-1 on the season and 2-0 in the HCAC while extending their win streak to four straight matches.
Owen Trudt got the scoring started for the Fightin' Engineers in the 15th minute as
Peter Borger crossed one into the box to
Connor Patton who headed it to Trudt who headed it home for the opening goal.
Just five minutes later, Patton put the ball in the back of the night to double the lead after a deflected cross from
Caleb Urban fell directly to Patton point-blank in front of the goal.
Rose-Hulman came out strong in the second half once again and scored in the 52nd minute as Patton secured his brace after Urban hit
Julius Salinas and Salinas crossed one in perfectly to hit Patton in stride.
In the 57th minute, Urban took a throw in from Borger and fired a shot from 25-yards out through traffic and off the post and in for a goal of the year candidate for the Fightin' Engineers to help stretch the lead to 4-0.
After an own goal by the Quakers, the Fightin' Engineers tacked on one more in the final five minutes as
Elijah Hardersen found
Tyler Eldridge for goal #6.
Rose-Hulman only recorded eight shots on goal for the game, but their exceptional shooting allowed them to put five of their eight shots into the back of the net.
John Biederstedt recorded two saves in the win as he picked up his third clean sheet in four games.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to the road on Wednesday, October 4 as they travel to Anderson for a 3:30 PM kickoff.
