Women's Soccer Earns Second Straight Clean Sheet with 0-0 Draw

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team earned their second consecutive clean sheet at Greenville on Wednesday night. The Fightin' Engineers earned a 0-0 draw in a back and forth battle with the Panthers.

The Panthers came out of the gates in a hurry with four shots in the first 10 minutes, and Lily Doré recorded three early saves to keep Greenville off the board.

Kiana Martin had the first shot on goal for the Fightin' Engineers in the 16th minute.

Rose-Hulman would kick it into gear to end the first half as they outshot Greenville 10-2 in the final 23 minutes of the half and the first 14 minutes of the second half, but they were unable to put one in the back of the net.

After that, Greenville would take back control of the game as they recorded six shots including a great chance in the 85th minute, but Doré came up with another great save.

The best Rose-Hulman chance came in the 87th minute as Ella Johnson connected with Camille Clark on a through ball, and Clark beat the keeper on the dribble, but she was fouled just outside of the box. The Greenville keeper was given a red card for the Denying of a Goal Scoring Opportunity (DOGSO), but Rose-Hulman was unable to take advantage as the free kick was skied over the crossbar.

Martin and Ally Smith led the team with three shots each. Doré made six saves in goal for the Fightin' Engineers.

Rose-Hulman returns to the field on Saturday afternoon as they host the Millikin Big Blue at 1 PM for the Grey Matters Cancer Awareness game.
