Strong Second Half Propels Women's Soccer Past the Big Blue

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team rode a dominating second half to a 6-0 victory over the Millikin Big Blue on Saturday afternoon.

Today was the annual Grey Matters Cancer Awareness game for the Rose-Hulman women's soccer team as they honored their Head Coach Amy Helliwell and all people who have or have had cancer.

Kyra Hicks got the scoring going for the Fightin' Engineers in the 15th minute. Jayden Gibson connected with Katie Choi who slipped a pass through to Hicks for the goal.

Millikin battled in the first half and was able to get several chances to knot up the game, but they would go into the half at 1-0.

Rose-Hulman came out on the front foot in the second half, and they never let up. The Fightin' Engineers scored goals in the 51st, 55th, 68th, 73rd, and 79th minutes en route to a 6-0 victory.

Five different Fightin' Engineers scored goals including Emma Johns (first career goal), Alex Adams, Choi, Hicks x2, and Lauren Marquardt. 

Rose-Hulman also had five different players record assists including Gibson, Choi x2, Adams x2, Johns, Camille Clark, and Hicks.

Goalkeeper Lily Doré recorded her second consecutive clean sheet, and the Fightin' Engineers extended their shutout streak to three matches and 274 consecutive minutes.

Rose-Hulman remains unbeaten at 2-0-2 on the season, and they extend their regular season unbeaten streak to 18 games, 11-0-7 in that span. The Fightin' Engineers returns to action on Tuesday night as they host the DePauw Tigers at 7 PM.
