TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team rolled to their fifth straight victory with a 77-66 win over Bluffton on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams went back and forth in the first half, and Rose-Hulman was finally able to take control with a 15-7 run to take their largest lead of the half at 22-14. The Beavers would fight back to cut it to one possession, but a
Rocco Richie three in the final minute put the Fightin' Engineers on top 31-24 at the break.
Rose-Hulman opened the half on a 7-2 run to extend the lead to 12, but Bluffton would answer once again and cut it back to one possession at 40-37. Rose-Hulman would take complete control of the game with a 14-4 run to take their largest lead of the game at 66-50 with just 5 minutes remaining.
The Fightin' Engineers would shoot over 50% from the floor in the second half and score 46 points in the half to finish with their fourth-most points scored in a game this season.
Richie led all Rose-Hulman scorers with 21 points, and
Bradley Harden added 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Kobe Stoudemire and
Miles McGowen each finished in double figures with 13 and 11 in the win.
Cole Pride dominated the glass with 6 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.
With the win, Rose-Hulman improves to 8-9 on the season and 6-4 in the HCAC. The Fightin' Engineers will return to action on Wednesday, January 24 as they host the Manchester Spartans at 7:30 PM.
