TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team rolled on Saturday to a 67-41 victory on their home floor.
Rose-Hulman came out of the gates slow, and they trailed multiple times in the first quarter. However, the Fightin' Engineers would come alive late in the first quarter with a 15-0 run and a 27-6 run to end the half with a 34-14 lead.
Bluffton would cut the lead to 16 in the fourth, but Rose-Hulman would finish the game on a 15-5 run to roll to the 26-point victory.
Jamie Baum and
Manuella Shomba led the Fightin' Engineers with 14 points in the win. Baum added 7 rebounds and 4 assists, and Shomba grabbed 5 boards.
CK Gallegos-Rodriguez had an outstanding all-around game with 9 points, 8 rebounds, 6 offensive rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists.
Mira Randolph also added 9 points in the win.
Emilia Diaz tallied 4 points and tied her career-high with 5 rebounds.
Senior Neha Vinish scored her first-career points in the win with a pair of buckets in the fourth quarter.
With the win, the Fightin' Engineers improve to over .500 for the first time this season with a record of 9-8 and 6-4 in the HCAC. Rose-Hulman will hit the road on Wednesday as they travel to Manchester to take on the Spartans on January 24 at 7:30 PM.
