TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) has released their weekly award winners for the sport of women's indoor track & field. The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers have swept the weekly awards with
Narindwa Semakula being named Track Athlete of the Week, and
Rofiat Adeyemi being named Field Athlete of the Week.
Semakula earned the win in the 60-meter hurdles in the Fightin' Engineer's second installment of the Friday Night Spikes Series last week. The biomedical engineering major from New Brighton, Minnesota finished the race with a season-best time of 9.18 which leads the HCAC this season and ranks 35th in the nation in all of NCAA Division III.
Adeyemi picked up two event wins in the Fightin' Engineers second home meet of the year. The mechanical engineering major from Austin, Texas placed first in the long jump (17' 4.75") and the triple jump (36' 2.75"). Her mark in the long jump is the best in the HCAC so far this season. Adeyemi earned the best mark in the conference in the triple jump earlier this year with a mark of 36' 8.5" ranking 30th in the nation.Â
The award is the first of the season and the fourth of the career for Semakula. For Adeyemi, it is her ninth career Athlete of the Week honor and the first of her 2024 season.
The Fightin' Engineers return to action this Friday, 1/26 in the third edition of the Friday Night Spikes Series starting at 6 PM.Â
