Women's Volleyball Drops Road Contest at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's volleyball team came up short in a 3-0 loss to Transylvania on Saturday afternoon.

After the Pioneers jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the opening set, the Fightin' Engineers came battling back and cut the lead to two at 20-18, but they were unable to finish off the comeback and fell 25-20.

Transylvania took the second set 25-18, but Rose-Hulman jumped out to an 11-7 lead in the third set of action as they looked to turn around the momentum.

The Fightin' Engineers kept a two-point lead for the majority of the set until the Pioneers went on a 5-1 run at 19-16 to take the 21-20 lead. They would hold on to win the set 25-22 and win the match 3-0.

Keira Ohse and Amaya Harrell led the team with 8 kills in the match, and Lily Ebright added 17 digs in the loss. Jillian Gregg and Julia Irmen each hit double figures in assists with 15 and 12, and Marina Cadilli added 12 digs and a team-high 5 service aces.

With the loss, the Fightin' Engineers fall to 8-12 on the season and 1-1 in the HCAC. They will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to St. Louis to take on #8 WashU.
