TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulmna Institute of Technology women's soccer team picked up a 3-0 win over the Earlham Quakers on Saturday to remain in the top spot in the HCAC.
The Fightin' Engineers opened the scoring tally in the 14th minute as
Lauren Marquardt slipped a beautiful ball in behind the defense to find a streaking
Kyra Hicks for her fifth goal of the season.
Rose-Hulman would double their lead in the 26th minute as
Kiana Martin doubled through traffic to the touch line and played a ball across the face of goal to find Hicks for her second of the game.
Just four minutes later, the Fightin' Engineers would add another insurance goal as
Emma Johns hit
Sydnee Schuler down the sideline. Schuler crossed one into the box, but the Quakers' clearance ended up in the back of the net for an own goal.
Rose-Hulman outshot Earlham 21-3 in the win with Hicks and
Alex Adams leading the team with 5 shots.
Lily Doré made two saves in her 60 minutes of action with
Brooke Spurlock combining for the third clean sheet in four games for Rose-Hulman.
With the win, the Fightin' Engineers extend their win streak to 13 over the Quakers and improve to 6-6-1 on the season. Their six game unbeaten streak also moves them to 5-0-1 in conference play.
