NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team locked up their first-round bye and the #2 seed in the HCAC Tournament with a 6-0 win over Manchester on Wednesday night.
The Fightin' Engineers opened the scoring in the 8th minute as
Kyra Hicks slotted home a goal off an assist from
Kiana Martin for the 1-0 lead.
Jayden Gibson scored her first goal of the season to double the lead in the 21st minute, and Hicks would finish off her brace in the 28th minute off another assist from Martin to make it 3-0 at the half.
In the second half, Rose-Hulman continued their dominant play with
Sydnee Schuler burying home a pass from
Alex Adams for the 4-0 lead.
Then, just four minutes later, Adams added her second assist of the contest as she slipped a pass over to
Emma Johns for her second goal of the year.
Schuler added a second goal in the 64th minute to finish off her third brace of the season and the 6-0 victory.
The Fightin' Engineers outshot the Spartans 24-1 in the game with
Brooke Spurlock making the lone save in goal.

Elizabeth Johnson all made their season debuts in the win over the Spartans.
With the win, Rose-Hulman improves to 8-7-1 on the season and finishes the year at 7-1-1 in the HCAC. With the #2 seed in the HCAC Tournament, the Fightin' Engineers receive the bye on Saturday and will host the winner of Franklin and Transylvania on Wednesday at 7 PM.
