TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team picked up their third consecutive win of the season on Saturday with a narrow 3-2 victory over the Transylvania Pioneers.
The Fightin' Engineers opened the game with a bang as
Cameron Hannah headed home the opening goal in the 13th minute off a double assist from
Julius Salinas and
Chase Kedzior.
Just four minutes later, Rose-Hulman doubled their lead off the foot of
Jacob Pohl as he found the back of the net off a cross by Salinas and a flicked on header by Hannah.
The Pioneers cut the lead in half in the 42nd minute with a goal on a long throw-in to the box.
The game changed in the 59th minute after a Transylvania player cleared out the Rose-Hulman goalkeeper to commit the foul and earn a yellow card. He would then be sent off moments later with his second yellow card for dissent.
Hannah put the Fightin' Engineers back in front by two goals in the 73rd minute as he completed his second brace in three games off a beautiful through ball from
Evan Lipsky for his third assist of the season.
Transylvania would get a goal back late, but Rose-Hulman would hold on for the 3-2 victory. The Pioneers finished the game with 7 yellow cards and a red card in the loss.
John Biederstedt made seven saves in goal to help Rose-Hulman hold on for the win.
The Fightin' Engineers improve to 4-4-2 on the season and 2-0 in the HCAC. The team returns to action on Wednesday, October 9 at 3:30 PM as they travel to Hanover to battle the Panthers.
