TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team cruised to a 70-7 win over Manchester on Senior Day.

Rose-Hulman started the scoring quickly with a pick-six on the third play of the day by Wyatt Bell. Then, Rick Easterwood got the offense going on their first drive as he found Daniel Huery for a 36-yard touchdown, their first touchdown connection of the game, for a 14-0 lead.

After a Manchester touchdown, Jay Smith had his turn at the table as he caught a 16-yard touchdown from Easterwood and ran in a 7-yard touchdown for the 28-7 lead.

Rose-Hulman then returned to their passing well as Easterwood hit Huery for a 58-yard touchdown with 1:12 to go and a 34-yard touchdown with 14 seconds to go to take a 42-7 lead into the halftime break.

Huery broke the Rose-Hulman record for career receptions with 257 on his final catch of the half.

In the second half, the seniors would continue to keep the offense rolling as Easterwood hit Chase Wilkinson for the 20-yard score for the 49-7 lead.

A pair of first-time scorers would get into the action in the third quarter as Joseph Alexion added a 1-yard touchdown run, and Brock Ebright hit Eli Silva for a 15-yard score.

Then, in the fourth quarter, it was the freshman Daniel Taylor scoring his first career touchdown from 2 yards out to put the finishing touches on the 70-7 win over the Spartans.

Easterwood threw for 267 yards and 5 touchdowns, and Ebright added 56 passing yards and a score.

Smith ran for 123 yards in the win, and Huery led the team with 10 catches for 182 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Rose-Hulman held the Spartans to just 22 yards rushing on 0.7 yards per carry. Ryan Schmidt and Ethan Swanner led the team with 4 tackles, and Gabe Adams and Curtis Gault added a pair of tackles for loss. Adams recorded two sacks, and Michael Noack and Augustus Shryock each added a sack.

With the win, the Fightin' Engineers improve to 4-4 on the season and 3-1 in the HCAC. They will return to action on Saturday, November 9 at 1:30 PM for their penultimate game of the season against the Anderson Ravens.
